Civic safety

Civic hazards — potholes, flooding, broken infrastructure — have standard reporting routes. Document with photo + location.

Applies across India. Civic numbers may differ by city. Last reviewed 18 August 2026.

If it just happened

  • Photograph the hazard with landmark context so the location is unambiguous.
  • If it's an active electrical hazard (live wire, transformer sparking), call 112 first and back away 10m+.
  • For flooding or sewage overflow, avoid contact — stagnant water carries leptospirosis risk.

Reduce the risk

  • After rain, watch for unfamiliar potholes at night — they fill and look solid.
  • If a streetlight has been out for > 3 days in your block, it is a reportable safety issue.

Report and follow up

  • Delhi: MCD 311 app or 1800-11-0093. Bengaluru: BBMP Sahaaya 2.0 app.
  • Pan-India civic helpline: 1800-345-1800.
  • Tag your state Twitter handle with #PotholeReport-style hashtags — often triggers faster action.
